A year ago, in October 2024, we launched Hyporest onto the market after long development work. Initially exclusively in our own online shop.
We started without an investor, without a large team, without a corporation behind us.
An idea that initially sounded unusual to many:
A dextrose product without taste, where the sugar does not come into contact with the teeth - and which does not trigger a sweet reward effect.
Meanwhile, Hyporest has changed the everyday lives of many people – with and without diabetes.
How it all began
The idea for Hyporest did not come from a laboratory, but from a person who lives with diabetes himself. Our founder Julius.
Anyone who regularly suffers from low blood sugar knows that at some point you simply can't see sweets anymore.
Candies, juice, chocolate bars - always this extremely sweet taste, always the same feeling afterwards.
We wanted something different:
A way to regulate blood sugar - without the taste. A functional product.
Something that feels like a relief, not a burden.
This is how Hyporest was created: tiny dextrose tablets that you can simply swallow - precisely dosed, quickly effective and finally tasteless.
The first year: reality meets everyday life
A lot has happened since the launch.
What started as a niche idea has now convinced many:

Diabetological practices and clinics actively recommend Hyporest

In the last few months we have presented Hyporest at numerous trade fairs - from dedoc° to the Diabetes Congress and the Düsseldorf Diabetes Day to Expopharm and KidsKon.
The interest was overwhelming and showed how great the need for a tasteless alternative really is. -
Hyporest is now available in more and more pharmacies - interest is also growing abroad
- More and more people who do not have diabetes are discovering the benefits of Hyporest
A real highlight was the startup competition of the German Diabetes Society (DDG) at the Diabetes Congress in Berlin:
Hyporest was awarded first prize there - an award that we are particularly pleased about because it shows that Hyporest is also perceived as a real innovation in professional circles.
But what means the most to us:
The many, almost daily feedback from people who write about how much their handling of hypoglycemia has changed - both from those affected and from the medical community.
Why this means so much to us
We are not a corporation.
We are a small team with a clear idea - and we built everything ourselves.
From development to design to packaging.
Every pack of Hyporest stands for personal initiative instead of investor capital, for conviction instead of a marketing budget.
And that's exactly why this first year is special for us.
Because it shows that even as a small startup you can make a difference – if you solve a real problem.
The next chapter
For the coming year, we plan to make Hyporest widely available in German pharmacies and also enable access to Hyporest in other countries.
We also want to reach more practices and diabetes consultants to make them aware that fast carbohydrates don't have to be sweet.
And of course we'll continue to listen - because the best ideas come from you.
